How Does On The Spot Grading Work

On The Spot Grading is our same-day grading service, available at card shows, events across Australia and in-store. Hand your cards to our team, and they're inspected, graded and sealed with a turnaround of approximately 3 hours. Explore the show while we work, then collect your professionally graded cards the same day.

The only thing that changes is the case. On The Spot grades are presented in our On The Spot case at a lower rate than our traditional slab service, and they can be upgraded to a sonic welded slab and label whenever you're ready as a free complementary upgrade within 6 months of receiving your submission. 

How it works:

  1. Find us. Visit the TCG Grading stand at a card show or event, or visit us in-store.
  2. Submit your cards. Hand them to our team, choose On The Spot Grading, and we'll give you a collection time.
  3. We grade and seal. Each card is graded, placed in its On The Spot case, and securely sealed with its grade and unique serial.
  4. Collect in around 3 hours. Come back at your collection time to pick up your graded cards, all on the same day.

A TCG Grading Grade Is a TCG Grading Grade, regardless of encapsulation.

Every On The Spot submission is graded by the same experienced graders, against the same 1–10 scale and the same structured sub-grade assessment, as every other item we grade. There's no lighter process and no separate grading standard.

Our human-supported approach doesn't change because the turnaround is faster. Each card is examined for centring, corners, edges and surface under controlled lighting and magnification, then given a grade our team stands behind.

So why does it cost less? The On The Spot case doesn't need a printed holographic label or a sonic welded slab. That saving is passed on to you, with no change to the grade. An On The Spot 10 is a TCG Grading 10. The difference is how it's cased, not how it's graded. And if you later decide you'd like the card in a sonic welded slab with a holographic label you can always upgrade at a discounted rate or for free if upgrading within 6 months of recieving the submission.

The On The Spot case is built for collectors who want their grade on the day. It's a clean, secure, collector-ready way to hold your graded card, and every case includes:

  • A tamper-evident security seal. Each case is securely sealed with a tamper-proof sticker, so any attempt to open it is immediately visible.
  • Your grade on the back. The grade is printed directly on the reverse of the case, clear and easy to read.
  • A unique serial number. Every case carries its own serial, linking the card to its grade.
  • A crystal-clear view. The card sits front and centre, ready to display, trade or take home.

Upgrade Whenever You're Ready

On The Spot Grading doesn't lock you in. Any On The Spot submission can be upgraded to our traditional presentation: a sonic welded, crystal-clear slab with a holographic foil TCG Grading label, a QR verification code and a security sticker.


It's a flexible way to collect. Get your grade on the day for a lower rate, then upgrade the cards you want to showcase, sell or keep long term. The upgrade is free within 6 months of receiving the submission, otherwise you only pay for the upgrade when, and if, you want it.
